Art, Story and the Stars for Liberation
Liberation Life Lab is an interdisciplinary experimental space for healing. In the Lab we use tools such as energy work, plant medicine, astrology and metaphysics for the purpose of well-being.
Art, story and the stars as tools for liberation.
I am a lifelong practitioner of astrology and plant medicine, with more than 25 years of formal study in metaphysics. An author, an archivist and an alchemist, I started Liberation Life Lab to focus on education that heals and transforms.
Some of my healing work has happened as college professor. I have written three books, and I have worked in higher education for over 15 years. I am a fellow of the National Humanities Center, as well as the Earl D. McLean Jr. Professor of African & African American Studies and Art, Art History & Visual Studies at Duke University. Images are powerful and I use art to foster public engagement with notions of liberation, whether hosting public conversations with contemporary artists or consulting on museum exhibitions. In one-on-one sessions through Liberation Life Lab, I use art and writing as tools for self-discovery.
Abundance, flow and transformation are among my key values—written into my chart and my name.
jasmine flower: associated with the feminine, the Moon, and water. Powers attributed to jasmine flowers include Love, Money, and Prophetic Dreams. Magical uses for dried jasmine include the attraction of spiritual love and wealth; when burned, jasmine can also bring about prophetic dreams.
(from Scott Cunningham, Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs).
As I have grown and learned to take my intuition more seriously, I have made room for all the things that interest me—art, writing, nature and the stars—knowing that these resources guide us along the path of life. These tools help us figure out.
With planning, insight and guidance, I transmute. Through Liberation Life Lab, I help others do the same.
